“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands…” — Isaiah 49:16 (KJV)
Look at the palm of your hand. Every line, crease, curve, and formation is there. We may never give those tiny details much thought, but God knows every one of them.
Jesus said that even the very hairs of our head are numbered. Psalm 139 tells us that He knew us while we were being formed in our mother’s womb. There isn't one intricate detail about our physical bodies that escapes His knowledge.
And if God knows the smallest details of the hands He created, how much more does He know the details of our hearts and souls?
He knows the hurt you haven't explained. He knows the prayer you haven't been able to put into words. He knows what makes you afraid, what makes you rejoice, and what you're carrying today.
Sometimes we wonder, “God, do You really see what I'm going through?”
Yes. He sees. He knows. And He cares.
You are not simply one person among billions to Him. You are His creation, uniquely and wonderfully made. The God who knows every line in the palm of your hand knows every detail of your story.
So when you don't understand what's happening, rest in this truth:
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you are completely known by the One who holds tomorrow—and you are engraved upon the palms of His hands.
