Scripture: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
Sometimes we look at where we are right now and begin to believe this is where we're always going to be. The struggle has lasted longer than we expected. The prayer hasn't been answered the way we hoped. The door hasn't opened. The situation hasn't changed. And if we're not careful, we can mistake a difficult season for our final destination. But your present situation is not your conclusion! God is still writing your story, so stop trying to steal the pen!
What you see today is only one chapter. You may be in the middle of the struggle, but you haven't reached the end of the story. Don't put a period where God has only placed a comma.
Think about Joseph. There was a time when his present situation was a pit. Later, his present situation was slavery. Then it was a prison cell. If Joseph had judged his future by what he could see in those moments, he might have believed his life was over.
But the pit wasn't his conclusion.
Slavery wasn't his conclusion.
The prison wasn't his conclusion.
The palace was still ahead!
Genesis 50:20 says, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…”
God was working even when Joseph couldn't see it. Even when we can't see it, God is surely working. Maybe you're looking at something today that doesn't make sense. Maybe you've prayed and prayed, and nothing seems to be changing. You may even be asking, “God, how much longer?”
Remember this: God can be working in places you cannot see.
Your waiting isn't necessarily wasted time.
Your setback doesn't mean God has forgotten you.
Your disappointment doesn't mean His promise has expired.
Your closed door doesn't mean another one isn't about to open.
Don't Let “Right Now” Define Your Future
The enemy would love to convince you that because things are difficult right now, they'll always be difficult. But God says, “I'm not finished yet.” You may be discouraged right now, but joy can come again. You may be waiting right now, but your answer can still come. You may feel stuck right now, but God can make a way where you don't see one.
You may be walking through the valley right now, but Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley…”
Notice the word "through". You weren't meant to build your house in the valley. Keep walking, as the verse also says, "I will fear no evil"!
-----------
Prayer suggestion:
"Dear Lord, help me not to judge my future by what I see today. When I'm discouraged, remind me that You are still working. Give me strength to keep walking, faith to keep believing, and patience to trust Your timing. I believe that my present situation is not my conclusion because You are still writing my story. I will trust You with the next chapter. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Take this with you and hold on to it:
The pit wasn't Joseph's conclusion.
The wilderness wasn't Israel's conclusion.
The lions' den wasn't Daniel's conclusion.
The fiery furnace wasn't the Hebrew boys' conclusion.
And the tomb wasn't Jesus' conclusion!
So don't let your present situation convince you that your story is over! God is still working, God is still moving, and God is still writing! Your present situation is NOT your conclusion!
