He Will NOT leave you there!
God can use music to heal. God can give others the words to write a song that can touch millions of lives or even pull someone out of dark place mentally, deliver someone from suicidal thoughts... that someone is me. By the end of summer 2017, I was in a bad place mentally, and would be hospitalized a few months later for treatment of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. I had heard this very song a few times before being hospitalized, and it would be the very song that would play over in my head during some of the most darkest and scariest moments of my life in that hospital room... not being able to sleep or function, hurled in a corner praying no one would mess with me, through the horrific screaming of other patients going through drug withdrawals, fights, and endless profanity, basic privileges taken away... those 7 days literally felt like being in jail, and it took me months to get over hearing that stuff in my head once home. I had to detox from my stay. But, still this song was there. I testified and would sing it a few months later at my previous church, and God moved and blessed mightily. I felt I could finally move forward in one piece but then boom... by summer 2018 the rug was pulled out from under my feet with a situation I was completely crushed by and blindsided by even though the Lord had just taken me through a 2+ year battle of learning how NOT to be blindsided (but that's how easily the enemy can slip in and attack if we let our guard down) and once again I watched my fight with depression come back with a vengeance. So, January 2019, I felt myself slipping away again and everything within me to fight the good fight of faith was dying! 1/13/2019 was my week to sing the special at church. I had picked a different song, but the word of God tells us to be instant in season and out of season; the soundtrack to this song was in my car, so God flipped the script. I sang this and God did a work in me that day as I poured my heart out to those sitting in front of me before singing this song; I went home from church that day with a better and healthier mindset. For over two years now, God has used this song to keep me moving forward. What is so powerful is knowing that while the people were writing this, God could already see the healing these very words would bring to my life. I had testified before singing and the Holy Spirit was all over me. God gave me the voice He did for a reason and has blessed it and helped improve it over the years. I wouldn't trade the anointed emotions and sincerity and the deep love I have for Jesus shining through my voice, for the best technically trained vocal and professional sounding voice in the world. You let your talents shine through for Jesus, and never let anyone tell you that you're not good enough. If you let the enemy or anyone else allow you to use the excuse that there is always somebody better than you at something, then you'll just sit on your talents and waste them... we all have different levels of talent for a reason... singing has always got me through!! He won't leave you there! I will share a YouTube link of me singing this song at the bottom of this post!
LYRICS:
I can't tell you why you're walking through this valley, I can't tell you just how long you've got to stay, I can't tell you why your heart feels so unsettled or when this all will change.
But I can tell you there is something you can lean on, It's a promise that won't bend and it won't break, It will keep you when the future is uncertain, you're not out of grace.
When the darkness overwhelms you, and the fear just won't subside, When your questions outweigh answers, on those long and lonely nights. When you've gotta keep on moving, He is with you in the valley of despair and He won't leave you there.
He is with you when you think you just can't make it, and He is right there when it looks like hope is lost, You're gonna find out He's nothing less than faithful, So keep holding on, keep holding on.
When the darkness overwhelms you, and the fear just won't subside. When your questions outweigh answers, on those long and lonely nights. When you've got to keep on moving, He is with you in the valley of despair and He won't leave you there. He won't leave you there.
Bridge: There has never been a moment, there will never be a day, that God's not strong enough to rescue, God's not strong enough to save...
When the darkness overwhelms you, and the fear just won't subside. When your questions outweigh answers, on those long and lonely nights. When you've got to keep on moving, He is with you...
Oh, When the darkness overwhelms you, and the fear just won't subside, When your questions outweigh answers, on those long and lonely nights. Friend you've gotta keep on moving, He is with you in the valley of despair and He won't leave you there... He won't leave you there, no He won't leave you there.
