Thank You Lord for Your precious word this day:
"If you will put your trust in Me and stay in My presence, I mean to linger there until I talk to you. I will talk to you. You will know My voice! You will know My authority! You will know My love! You will know My direction! I will direct your path. You will not go astray, if you stay on this path I direct. You must watch in this hour, for many have turned to their own desires and wills. Do My will, submit yourself unto Me, and I will bring the victory. But submit to Me and linger in My presence and pray like you’ve never prayed before, for I am about to do some great things," saith the Lord of Hosts.
One thing that stood out to me in this word is the reminder to linger in His presence until He speaks. Sometimes we get so busy asking God for answers that we forget the importance of simply spending time with Him. We want direction, but are we willing to slow down long enough to listen? We want Him to open doors, but are we willing to submit our will to His? We want victory, but are we willing to follow the path He directs?
John 10:27 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
Recognizing the voice of God requires a relationship with Him. The more time we spend in His presence and in His Word, the more familiar His voice becomes. He will give us direction when we don't know which way to turn, peace when everything around us feels uncertain, and strength when the journey becomes difficult.
Another part of this word that deserves our attention is the warning about people turning to their own desires and wills. It is easy to become distracted by what we want, what we think is best, or what everyone else is doing. But following God means surrendering our own plans and trusting His direction, even when it doesn't look like the path we would have chosen.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, lean not on our own understanding, and acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our paths.
I believe we are living in a time when we need to be more intentional about our prayer lives than ever before. We cannot afford to become so distracted that we lose our sensitivity to the presence of God. We cannot allow the noise of this world to drown out His voice. There are things God wants to do in us, through us, and around us, but we must be willing to surrender, pray, listen, and obey.
Don't just rush into His presence with a list of requests. Linger there. Worship Him. Open His Word. Listen for His direction. Let Him search your heart and align your desires with His will.
The greatest place we can ever be is right in the center of God's will. We don't have to figure everything out when we know the One who is directing our steps.
"Lord, help us to slow down, draw closer, and linger in Your presence. Teach us to recognize Your voice above every other voice. Give us hearts that are willing to submit, ears that are willing to listen, and faith that is willing to obey. Let our desires line up with Your will, and prepare us for everything You want to do in this hour. May we never become so busy doing things for You that we forget to spend time with You. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Don't just seek His hand; seek His presence. Don't just ask Him to direct your path; be willing to follow where He leads. The direction of the Lord will never lead you astray when you remain surrendered to Him.
