A New Ministry Journey!

Along with continuing nursing home ministry, this week, I started another ministry journey of making weekly visits to Gardens of Clanton, assisted living. It has been on my heart for some time now, and I'm thankful the opportunity was given to me. Today was meeting them, a short devotion, some singing around the piano, lunch with them, and calling bingo. I can't wait to see what is to come in the weeks/months ahead. One of the precious ladies even sent some hand sewn gifts home with me; talk about my eyes getting misty. This has definitely added to my purpose. This is just my heart! ❤ For right at 10 years, I've done my best to stay involved with nursing home ministry. My time away from them during covid certainly wasn't easy; that was a long 16 months. When I pull in on Sunday afternoons to teach Sunday school, visit and sing with them, I just thank the Lord for another opportunity to be with them. They always end up blessing me more than I bless them. They'll be sitting in the halls, waiting to go to Sunday school and look and smile when they see me and say "there's our teacher/preacher". Some have been there since day 1 with me, so we've definitely formed bonds. Some have gone on to be with the Lord, some can no longer get out of bed but I go by and pray with then. Seeing their faces light up when I bring them a "surprise gift" means everything to me. Some even asked for a picture of me to put in their room, so I made sure that happened. I wish I could just group them up and take them home with me sometimes. I know both places are short staffed right now, so I applaud the ones still working to take care of these precious ones!
