Has the Church Building Become An Idol!
Your pastor has never pastored a church through a pandemic like this before. When he opens people are going to say he should have closed. When he closes people are going to say he should have opened. When he shakes hands people are going to say he has faith. When he shakes hands people are going to say he’s foolish. He’s going to make some difficult decisions to protect the flock considering everything from your spiritual growth to legal liabilities that you aren’t even thinking about. Remember this: No one wants things to go well at church as much as your pastor. Your pastor needs your prayers and support right now. I'm afraid that we as a Christian society have also become too comfortable and complacent with the church building. We are the church, not the building. Yes, even during this time you can still "not forsake the assembling together with others". Jesus taught in small groups. In fact, He found that to be more beneficial in having that one on one, intimate time with others, so that they could better understand His teachings. He picked 12 disciples not 120, 1200 or 12,000. Have in-home church services with your family and/or a few friends. Sing praises unto God, read scripture, have someone in the group study and prepare a message to give. I have experienced some of the best encounters with God and received His healing power right in the middle of my bedroom (my sanctuary), in my car, and at other home bible studies. If you're only relying on and thinking a church service in a building, that may need to be temporarily closed, is going to get you through, your mindset needs to change! Has the church building, overtime, become an idol in our lives? I'm afraid so! I have church at home all week long. There are plenty of church services I go back and watch online during the week, that will still be available to you at this time. At home, I read and study scripture, Bible journal, pray, play my keyboard and sing praises unto Him. A great revival can break out right in your home, and have you ever thought God just might be purposely trying to get you still in a small group setting, so that He better has your focus and can bring that answer and miracle your way that you've so desperately been seeking from Him!? The enemy's greatest tools are distractions and hindrances. God, in His infinite power, I believe is pushing us to be at home, in a small group setting, to get those tools of the enemy out of the way! I believe God is starting the process of bringing together His Holy Remanent, which will be small in number. My heart is to stay in His Remanent church. Luke 12:32 "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom." Notice that verse says LITTLE flock, not a big flock. His kingdom will be small in number. Don't let me be deceived God! The only way that I can remain not deceived is by reading, studying, and knowing the full word of God. Knowing it for myself, and not relying on the knowledge of others. God is teaching us something through this! Let's lean in and listen to Him!
