Just say "NO" to a backbiting tongue!
When your pastor is teaching and preaching a very tough but needed message on spiritual growth and being careful of what you say and making accusations and judgements about others, for the enemy will use both our mind and mouth to pull us away from the Lord and refers to Scripture in Proverbs... you turn to Proverbs 25:23 and read this in the study portion of your Bible and your heart almost skips a beat.
I am not going to post something that God hasn't first dealt with me on... those messages He gives me are for me too... and like the Lord told me several years back when it comes to messages... if you can't live it then you can't give it. I share with others what He has shared with me and taught me in hopes that it helps and encourages others. The word from my Bible, in this picture, doesn't get much plainer than that and it will slap you right between the eyes.
The point is you need to be careful who you talk to or you will find out you have been used as their scapegoat. Though I continue to grow as a Christian, I am still on this earth, so I am still in this flesh and that means I have not yet reached perfection. I have had to humble myself down more than once and apologize and take responsibility for my actions as well as endure the consequences from past mistakes. But, I pray God continues to wake me up spiritually as His return draws nearer, as I am thankful for the spiritual growth I have experienced thus far.
The important thing is that we have a teachable spirit. As Christians, we have to understand that age doesn't always equal spiritual maturity and we have to know we all struggle and have flaws, and that is why we need Jesus in our life. Let us not have a backbiting tongue nor participate with those who do! I can't pray for God to shape someone else up without first praying for Him to shape me up! Over this past few years, I have truly been praying for God to shape me up and though it has been a rough road of being blindsided by the enemy, lots of hurt, tears, disobedience, whining, hard lessons learned... it has also been a about 3 years of spiritual growth, greater discernment, receiving spiritual gifts, seeing my inner circle get smaller (which is a good thing; I would rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies), not whining, becoming obedient, truly learning what forgiveness and compassion towards others mean, and having the boldness and confidence to stand firm on God's Word.
If you are a Christian, please know and understand that we are all in this fight to the finish together... the Lord is coming back and we need to pray, encourage, and lift one another up, and push each other closer to the Lord not push them down. I was told one time to never put people down unless it is on a prayer list... we all have issues and we have to pray one another thru. Lord continue to wake us (me) up and grow us (me).... nothing or no one, no earthly relationship is worth jeopardizing your spiritual gifts, spiritual condition, or your relationship with Jesus Christ... let us get our focus, heart, mind, and mouth on what it needs to be on... God.
