My Water Baptism Memories!
20 years ago I officially gave my heart and life to Jesus Christ in 1997 and got baptized that summer, though raised in church since the womb! I kept my jumper dress and pics and last week this was complete for me and framed, and now hangs on my bedroom wall. Bro. Thurmond Cleckler has literally been by my side (whether praying with me on the phone at a church service, at the hospital, or at home) thru every surgery, hospitalization, & sickness I've been thru since 1994. He will always be my pastor too, and I'm forever grateful He's the man of God who baptized me. Though my parents still attend Pinedale Assembly of God where He's pastored since 1980, and God called me to a different church, it is my forever 2nd church home and He has believed in and prayed me thru and talked me thru it all. He's stayed in my corner when He didn't have to. Every time I was going thru another sickness, surgery, or hospitalization, at the end of His prayers He always told me 2 things: "That he kept my picture on his office desk at home and prayed for my healing every morning before the sun come up" and "to never forget the verse of scripture Psalm 46:10, 'Be still and know that I am God". It didn't matter what church I was attending, he was there and he still is and tells me those things!! I am beyond blessed to have two great pastors in my life who go above & beyond their call of duty, the one who was there to see me saved, baptized in water and baptized in the Holy Ghost... and the one who has seen me grow spiritually over the last 4 years and get settled into the place and ministry God has called me to be in 'til Heaven: counseling me, talking to me, praying for me thru, suffering with me and my family, teaching me thru every painful growth period I've went thru, not wanting to scold me but doing it for my good. Both men of God have been in my corner and both have been a part of my family for the last 20 years... Bro. Thurmond & Bro. Boatwright (Clanton Church of God); they've preached many funerals together in Chilton County and they've sit in a lot of waiting rooms and hospital rooms together praying over people they love and care about, and they neither want to nor desire to compromise the word of God when preaching, etc., their congregations are their family whom they truly tend to, love, and care for which is rare these days! I am beyond blessed by having them both in my life long term; preachers have come and gone in our family but they have stayed thru it all!! They, along with my parents, are the reason I remain strong in the Lord! This framed memory will forever be cherished! 💙
